This is a sweet and gentle reminder (we need those from time to time) that the purpose of Brainstorms is just that: to brainstorm. People should feel free to explore ideas without feeling that they are going to be attacked for each minor imprecision in the use of language. They should also not feel as if they need to be able to defend their creative ideas to the full extent of a mathematical or logical proof. Please keep in mind the principle of charity, especially in light of the "brainstorming" function of this forum...

Criticism and a call for clarification are certainly welcome (and should be most welcome by those who post their brainstorms in the hope of honing in on a more precise idea) but the criticism should never be given in the "Battle Warrior" mode that so often pervades discussion between members of the human species.

Main Entry: brain·storm
Pronunciation: -"storm
Function: noun
Date: circa 1894
1 : a violent transient fit of insanity [Eek!]
2 a : a sudden bright idea b : a harebrained idea [Confused]

The ISCID Forums are aimed at generating insight into the nature of complex systems (e.g. biological complexity, organizational complexity, etc.) and the ontological status of purpose, especially from the vantage point of various information- and design-theoretic models.
