Redefining the Battlefield: Methodological Considerations for the Science/Philosophy Dialogue

ABSTRACT—With the ever increasing ease of communication, the conditions for the possibility of dialogue among people of different areas of specialization would seem to be better than ever. However, there is currently a break in communication between science and philosophy that hampers man's pursuit of truth . Both sides share in the responsibility for this paradoxical state of affairs, and thus both must strive to overcome obstacles and promote full interdisciplinary dialogue. Both philosophy and science should come to perceive the importance of waging battle not against each other but rather against a common enemy: ignorance. The purpose of this article is to help redefine the battlefield.
