The scrambling of threads was an intentional act. We're moving threads that we've been relatively happy with to the front of the queue in the hopes that they will encourage further discussion and that they will serve as an example of what we can achieve at Brainstorms. It is common practice on some of the better discussion forums on the internet. We're just following suit.
Occassionally, we'll bump good threads back up to the top (this was just a more extreme case). It serves three purposes:
1. It brings some of our older, high quality material back into the spotlight for old users.
2. It introduces new users to some of our better material.
3. It is a natural way to keep the better content in view as an example of what we can acheive when quality is valued over quantity, and when a little extra effort is put into developing good threads.
Finally, this is all being done to encourage higher quality posts and participation. We don't shy away from taking an active role in shaping what Brainstorms looks like, and when it gets too far away from our initial vision, we try to take steps to bring it back into that vision.
If you've been throwing around some ideas for a while that you think would make a nice contribution to the Brainstorms community, now would be a great time to make them public. [ 24. May 2003, 12:21: Message edited by: Moderator ]
