There also seems to be an amazing similarity, scurrying some of Julie Thomas' older stuff, in two other unrelated systems. The ATP synthase alpha and beta subunit, and the cytoskeleton MTs, alpha and beta tubulin. The ATP synthase a and b subunits, both bind ATP, but only beta subunit hydrolizes it. Very striking similarity with a and b tubulin, both bind GTP, only beta hyrdolizes it.
