Avogadros Number

Named for 19th century Italian scientist Amadeo Avogardro and alternatively known as the Avogadro constant or Loschmidt constant/number, Avagadro's number establishes the relative measurement of the number of molecules or atoms (molecular weight of a substance) per gram.

The constant used to calculate this measurement is based upon the number of carbon-12 atoms in 12 grams (unbound carbon-12 in its ground state) is currently estimated to be:

6.02257 X 10^23

The Avogadro constant can be used to calculate the molecular weight in grams for any substance [n] expressed in moles, and is used primarily in chemistry.
