Civil Engineering Civil engineering is the branch of engineering that is focused on the design, development and maintenance of the structures and systems that society needs in order to live in a more efficient, safe and organized manner. As such, civil engineers are involved with infrastructure projects (such as the building of bridges, highways and transportation networks), with structural projects (such as the building of airports, buildings and stadiums), and also with projects relating to systems such as waste management and water filtration. Civil engineering is about making life more comfortable, convenient and sanitized. It is probably the oldest branch of engineering around, as proven by the aqueducts built by the Romans and pyramids built by the Egyptians. Ancient structures that are still amazing people today and that that stand as testaments to what civil engineering can produce. Civil Engineering Materials by Shan Somayaji |
