Dimension
A measurement [parameter] of an object's characteristics in space and time that describe quantities like position, length, width, depth, size, speed, etc. We perceive three spatial dimensions - length, width and depth - and a single forward direction of time. In physics time is symmetric in two directions instead of just the single thermodynamic one we experience (toward increasing entropy), and physical GUT theories include a few or many 'extra' dimensions [String theories, M-brane theories] to increase the number of parameters [degrees of freedom] involved in fundamental interactions.
