Direct Darwinian Pathway

An evolutionary progression in which a biological structure changes over time while its function stays the same. In a direct Darwinian pathway, natural selection enhances or improves a given function but does not change the function. A direct Darwinian pathway is to be contrasted with an indirect Darwinian pathway.
