Invertebrates

Animals (organisms belonging to the kingdom Animalia) without a backbone. This is really not a very usefull classification, as it is purely negative, based on the lack of a feature. Furthermore, since the vast majority of animals lack a vertebrate, the term is about as informative as "non-jellyfish" or "non-worm". Some major groups of invertebrates are: Echinodermata (which includes starfish), Arthropoda (includes insects and crayfish), Mollusca (includes snails, clams, and squids), Annelida (includes earthworms), and Plathylmintes (includes various worms that live as parasites).
