Optimization Problem

An optimization problem consists of a set of points, representing potential solutions, and an objective function (or cost function) measuring how good (or bad) any given point is. Usually, one wants an efficient way to search through the set of potential solutions for the one with the highest (or lowest) value of the objective function (or cost function).
