Pharmacogenomics Formed by the words pharmacology and genomics, pharmacogenomics aims to take traditional pharmaceutics to the next level through individualized preparation of drugs based on the genetic makeup of a patient. The result, therefore, would be medicine that takes into account not just the illness itself, but also a patient’s personal factors such as lifestyle, age, gender, environment, etc. Such an achievement would greatly increase the medical community’s ability to effectively treat a disease while keeping negative side effects or adverse reactions to a minimum.
