Process Structuralism

Process structuralism is an approach that attempts to explain morphology in terms of morphogenetic laws and generative principles. This results in a perspective that is largely ahistorical, seeing organisms as fitting into timeless categories, similar to the periodic table of elements. Although process structuralism does not necessitate the denial of common ancestors and evolving lineages, structuralists see such concepts simply as irrelevant in explaining the forms of organisms.
