Specified Complexity as Information
by
William A. Dembski

I'm presenting the 3rd chapter of my book No Free Lunch, though symposium participants with limited time should focus on sections 3.2, 3.4, 3.5, 3.7, 3.8 (up to the paragraph beginning "Let us now turn to the mathematical justification ..."), 3.9, and 3.10. I want to discuss how specified complexity extends and enriches Shannon information as well as the Law of Conservation of Information. I also want to consider whether this law has a legitimate claim to be called the "fourth law of thermodynamics."
