Signalling the Future: A Symposium on "Cell Signalling" Sept. 4-6, 2002.
A University of Liverpool, School of Biological Sciences International Symposium to celebrate 100 years of Biochemistry in Liverpool and the U.K.
September 4th-6th, 2002
On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, I have pleasure in inviting you to participate in Signalling the Future, an international symposium on Cell Signalling to celebrate the centenary of the first Department of Biochemistry to be established in the U.K. at the University of Liverpool.
The turn of the century has witnessed an explosion in molecular information arising from the sequencing of genomes and the analysis of their proteomes and we can now begin to contemplate a realistic description of the full array of integrated mechanisms that cells and organisms deploy in response to external signals. This symposium will look forward to the the potential achievements in the field over the next decade and beyond.
The Symposium, which is scientifically supported and organized by several of the Interest Groups of the Biochemical Society as well as The Physiological Society, Society for Endocrinology , the British Society for Developmental Biology and the University of Liverpool Centre for Comparative Infectious Diseases will take place over three full days (4th-6th), comprising nine colloquia and associated poster sessions in three parallel sessions, with two half-day Plenary sessions at the start and end of the meeting. Four named lectures will also be included in the programme:
The Biochemical Society Morton Lecture
The Philip Godfrey Lecture
The Liverpool Centenary Lecture
The Johnston Historical Lecture
It is anticipated that there will be a total of around 600 participants, and the Symposium will also include a full social programme of events over three days, starting on the 3rd.
Details of registration, the scientific and social programmes and other relevant information can be found at http://www.signal2002.com/
I look forward to seeing you here in Liverpool in September
